Getting ready to move? The prospect can be daunting. The first thing we suggest is that you call Jay’s for an estimate. A moving estimate from Jay’s will give you a good idea of the costs and options, as well as the timing that will be involved in getting your belongings from your current home to your new location.

How Do I Get an Estimate?

Give us a call to arrange a no-obligation meeting. Your Moving Consultant will come to your home (in some cases a virtual tour may be an option). This will give them a good idea of the particulars of your move, and your estimate will be much more accurate. Each move is unique, and we will tailor a moving solution to meet your specific needs. 

What will be discussed with your Moving Consultant?

Together, during your in-home estimate, you will review specific details that will be involved in your move – obvious things like the weight or size of your shipment, the crating of large items, whether or not you will require storage in transit, or packing and unpacking. Discussion will include less obvious things like shuttle service, logistical challenges like elevators and stairs, and in-transit protection for your belongings.

Do you need packing supplies? Jay’s can provide moving boxes, tissue, mattress bags, packing paper, shipping tape, specialized shipping containers, etc. Ask your Moving Consultant for details.

Do you need packing/unpacking services? If this is an option you want to include, our capable team at Jay’s will place your property into labelled cartons and boxes with the appropriate protective wrapping. In your new home, our movers will remove packed items from cartons and place them openly for inspection. Packing materials and debris will be removed upon completion. By pre-arrangement with you, our team can place your household effects on shelves and in cupboards, but this is not normally part of the unpacking process.

Do you need storage? Jay’s can provide a secure space for short or long-term storage of your possessions.

Will you need extra cargo protection? We automatically include the industry standard coverage with all moving services. You may choose to purchase additional coverage, which is available through Jay’s. Your Move Consultant will explain the protection plan to you.

Your Consultant will also discuss items that cannot be shipped on the moving van such as flammable, corrosive, explosive or perishable goods.
