When our customers are planning a move, we are often asked, “What about my plants?”. We suggest moving your plants yourself. A couple of days before your move, water your plants normally, taking care not to over water. Pack your plants the night before or the morning of the move. To pack them, use some sturdy boxes, line them with plastic and place your plant inside. Use paper to cushion the inside of the box and make sure your plant doesn’t shift or tip over in transit. Wrap large plants in an old bed sheet or tissue paper to protect fragile branches. Transport your plants on the floor in the backseat of your vehicle and keep the temperature there at a comfortable level.
Once you’re in your new home, unpack your plants as soon as possible. Resist the urge to experiment with their placement for the first couple of weeks after the move. Remember that your plants need time to adjust to your new space – just like you do.
