Jay's Celebrates Earth Day

Earth Day Saskatchewan

As Earth Day approaches, Jay’s remains steadfast in its commitment to prioritizing environmental sustainability, aiming to safeguard our planet for future generations. Integrating eco-friendly practices into our daily operations is a cornerstone of our approach.

Let’s face it – we have a large fleet of vehicles, and switching to electric tractors isn’t yet a feasible option. In the meantime, Jay’s Fleet Management personnel track fuel consumption and total idle time, using advanced telematics systems in our trucks. These systems provide real-time data on various aspects of vehicle performance, including engine idling.  Prioritizing the reduction of idle times serves as a practical strategy in diminishing our carbon footprint.

We have been a SmartWay partner since 2016. SmartWay works with freight carriers to help move goods in the cleanest, most efficient way possible, fostering higher productivity while protecting the environment.

In addition to reducing idle times and investing in eco-friendly vehicles such as electric forklifts in some of our warehouses, we are also implementing other sustainable practices throughout our operations. This includes using recycled and recyclable packing materials, recycling our electronics, and minimizing paper usage through digital documentation.

We offer a refund program for our cardboard moving boxes so they can be used more than once before being recycled. We encourage fighting food waste through our membership in a charity called Move for Hunger.

From utilizing energy-efficient practices in our vehicles to minimizing paper usage through digital documentation, we are continually improving our efforts to reduce carbon emissions and minimize waste. This Earth Day, Jay’s encourages everyone to take action towards a greener future, whether it’s through recycling, reducing energy consumption, or planting a tree. Together, we can make a meaningful impact on the health of our planet.
