You Booked a Move with Jay's — Now What?

writing in planner

Booking your move is a big milestone—congrats! Whether you’re heading across town or across the country, we’re so glad you chose Jay’s to help you get there. Now that the date is on the calendar, you might be wondering… what happens next?

At Jay’s, we believe a smooth move starts with clear communication and a little preparation. Here’s what to expect in the days and weeks leading up to moving day, and how you can set yourself up for success.

Step 1: You'll Hear From Us

As part of the booking process, you’ll receive a confirmation email outlining the details of your move from one of our Relocation Consultants. They’ll be your go-to contact from now through moving day. They’ll check in with reminders, go over logistics, and answer any questions you may have.

Step 2: Start Prepping (But Don't Panic!)

If you’re doing your own packing, now’s the time to create a plan. Start with the items you use least often—seasonal decor, books, or storage closets. Leave your everyday essentials for last.

Not packing yourself? Even better! We’ll take care of the heavy lifting.

Step 3: Keep the Communication Flowing

Things change—we get it. If your moving date, address, or inventory changes, let your Relocation Consultant know as soon as possible so we can adjust and plan accordingly.

We’ll also stay in touch leading up to your move with any schedule updates, arrival times, or helpful reminders.

Step 4: What to Expect on Move Day

On moving day, your Jay’s crew will arrive on time and ready to go. The driver will do a quick walk-through with you before anything is loaded, confirming what’s being moved and noting any special handling. We’ll take care of:

  • Wrapping and protecting furniture
  • Loading efficiently and safely
  • Communicating clearly if there are any questions or concerns

Once at your new home, we’ll do another walkthrough and place items in the right rooms—just let us know where things go!

Step 5: Last-Minute Checklist

Here’s a quick rundown to make sure you’re ready when the truck pulls up:

  • Pack a “first night” bag with your medications, clothes, chargers, toiletries, snacks, etc.
  • Clear hallways, driveways, and entryways.
  • Confirm your new address and best contact number.
  • Make arrangements for kids and pets, if needed.
  • Set aside cleaning supplies for final touches.

Questions? We’re Just a Call Away.

At Jay’s, we pride ourselves on being more than just a moving company—we’re your partner through every stage of your move. If you’re ever unsure about something or just need a bit of reassurance, don’t hesitate to reach out.

We’re here to help you settle into your next chapter with confidence and peace of mind.
